Flatwoods Claims 7U Tournament Championship

The Russell-Flatwoods All-Stars defeated Ashland 18-15 and 18-10 to capture the District 6 7u championship.

Russell-Flatwoods 7U All-Stars erased a five-run deficit to defeat the Ashland 7U All-Stars 18-15 in a high-scoring showdown.

The two teams combined for 48 hits, with Russell-Flatwoods collecting 26 and Ashland adding 22.

Ashland took a 9-7 lead after a six-run third inning, highlighted by Logan Elmer’s bases-clearing double. Russell-Flatwoods answered with a seven-run sixth inning, using nine hits to pull away for the victory.

Dayton Hensley sparked Russell-Flatwoods with a three-run triple, while Shep Mays added a two-run double during the decisive sixth inning. Ryker Holbrook and Isaac Baier each had three hits. Carter Grubb and Hensley drove in three runs apiece.

Ashland was led by Logan Elmer., who drove in four runs while going 2-for-3. Cam Worthington collected three hits.

The Russell-Flatwoods 7U All-Stars pounded out 27 hits on their way to an 18-10 victory over the Ashland 7U All-Stars to capture the District Championship.

After Ashland scored first, Russell-Flatwoods answered with six runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. The champions added another run in the second before breaking the game open with six more runs in the third.

Finn Fultz led the Russell-Flatwoods offense with three hits. Easton James and Hudson Whitt drove in three runs apiece.

Ashland finished with 15 hits. Both teams advanced to the State Tournament in Richmond.

 

 Ashland 8U All-Stars Capture District Championship, Advance to State

The Ashland Little League 8u All-Stars put together an impressive run through the district tournament, winning four straight games to claim the championship and earn a berth in the State Tournament.

Ashland opened tournament play with a dominant 15-0 victory over CCLL before defeating Fleming County 10-3. The All-Stars then survived a thrilling semifinal battle with Boyd-Catlettsburg, rallying for a 12-11 victory, before capping their championship run with a 5-2 win over Russell-Flatwoods.

The game against Boyd-Catlettsburg proved to be one of the tournament's most exciting contests. Ashland raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, but Boyd-Catlettsburg answered with six runs on eight hits in the bottom half of the inning to grab a 6-4 advantage. Boyd-Catlettsburg later extended its lead to 8-4 before Ashland mounted a comeback, scoring six runs on seven hits in the top of the fifth inning to reclaim a 10-8 lead. The two teams combined for 39 hits, with Ashland collecting 20 and Boyd-Catlettsburg adding 19, as Ashland held on for the 12-11 victory.

In the championship game, Ashland played one of its most complete games of the tournament, pounding out 18 hits while playing flawless defense in the 5-2 win over Russell-Flatwoods.

Cruz Stevens led the offensive attack, going 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Ashland wasted little time taking control, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Knox Brown started the rally with a double to center field, followed by an RBI double from Easton White and an RBI triple down the left-field line by Elliott Maynard.

Russell-Flatwoods finished with 12 hits in the title game. Asher Hankins, Carlee Caldwell, Noah Floyd and Jack Hieneman each collected two hits, while Hankins and Brently Boggs each drove in a run.

With the top-two finish, both Ashland and Russell-Flatwoods advance to the State Tournament, where they will represent District 6 starting July 11th.


Boyd-Catlettsburg 10U All-Stars Finish District 6 Runner-Up

The Boyd-Catlettsburg 10U All-Stars put together a strong run in the Kentucky District 6 Tournament, finishing as tournament runner-up after advancing to the championship game.

Boyd-Catlettsburg opened tournament play with a 15-10 victory over Ashland before defeating Russell 9-5 to remain unbeaten. Their championship hopes were temporarily slowed by eventual tournament champion Fleming County, which handed Boyd-Catlettsburg a 10-0 loss and sent them to the lower bracket.

Facing elimination, Boyd-Catlettsburg responded with a win over Morehead to earn a rematch with Fleming County in the District 6 championship game.

Fleming County completed its undefeated tournament run with a 14-1 victory in the title game, leaving Boyd-Catlettsburg with a second-place finish.

Despite the loss in the finals, Boyd-Catlettsburg turned in an impressive tournament performance, winning four games and advancing to the District 6 championship game against the eventual champions. Boyd-Catlettsburg will play in the State Tournament to be held at Grayson Sports Park beginning July 18th.

 

Ashland 9-11 All-Stars Finish District 6 Runner-Up

The Ashland 9-11 All-Stars battled their way to a runner-up finish in the Kentucky District 6 Tournament after making an impressive run to the championship game.

Ashland opened tournament play with a dramatic 5-4 victory over Morehead. With the score tied 4-4, Grey Ashby crossed the plate in the top of the fifth inning to score the game-winning run.

In their next game, Ashland built a commanding 9-0 lead over Boyd-Catlettsburg before surviving a furious rally. Boyd-Catlettsburg scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but Ashland held on for a 9-8 victory.

After suffering an 11-5 loss to Carter County, Ashland stayed alive by edging Morehead 12-11 in another thriller to earn a rematch with Carter County in the District 6 championship game.

Carter County claimed the district title with a 10-0 victory in the finals, while Ashland finished the tournament as the District 6 runner-up after an impressive postseason run.

Ashland advanced to the State Tournament to be held at Grayson Sports Park.
