The Ashland 9-11 Little League All-Stars and Boyd-Catlettsburg 10U All-Stars experienced mixed results during Kentucky State Tournament action over the weekend, with both teams earning one victory.

Boyd-Catlettsburg bounced back from a 14-4 opening-round loss to Hazard Perry by defeating South Warren 13-4. The All-Stars broke the game open with an eight-run second inning to build a commanding 10-0 lead over South Warren.

Matthew Green highlighted the rally with a two-run single before Conner Mabry followed with a two-run double. Mabry finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in three runs to lead the offense.

On the mound, Seager Middleton turned in a strong performance, allowing just two hits and three runs while striking out seven over 3 1/3 innings.

Ashland's 9-11 Little League All-Stars opened the State Tournament in impressive fashion with a 14-2 victory over Washington County.

Brody Stewart gave Ashland an early spark with a two-run double in the first inning. The All-Stars then erupted for six runs in the second to take an 8-0 lead, highlighted by a two-run double from Jamey Alexander.

Ashland pounded out 14 hits in the victory, led by Judah Moore, who collected three hits and drove in three runs.

Grey Ashby earned the win after allowing just one hit and no runs while striking out one over 1 1/3 innings. Proc Robinson closed out the game with 1 1/3 scoreless innings, striking out four.

Ashland couldn't maintain its momentum in its second game, falling 17-8 to Eastern on Sunday to even its tournament record at 1-1.

The 9-11 All-Stars raced out to a 5-0 lead in the opening inning, but Eastern answered with six runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead for good before pulling away for the victory.

Manning Gill paced Ashland offensively with three RBIs in the loss.
