Camp Landing Celebrates Five Years

Five years ago, the community of Boyd County was changed with the opening of the Camp Landing Entertainment District in the old KYOWVA Mall. Jason and Elisabeth Camp had a vision for the area and brought their dream to fruition.

Such a milestone deserves a party! Camp Landing will have a five-year celebration on Saturday, July 18 from noon to 5 p.m. The first 500 visitors will receive a coupon for a prize from one of the businesses at Camp Landing.

“It could be a free movie,” said Elisabeth Camp, “or a free ride at Malibu Jacks, the go carts or miniature golf, frozen custard from Whit’s, a meal at Smokin’ J’s, ax throwing, Tap That Sports, and more. All the businesses are participating.”

There will be a balloon artist on hand to make animal balloons for the kids as well as a petting zoo with animals from the Rose Valley Animal Park, and also a new surfboard ride.

All in all, it sounds like a fun day for the whole family with something for everyone to enjoy.

“We are just really excited,” Elisabeth confessed. “I can’t believe it has been five years since we opened.”

Getting to this point took a lot of hard work from the Camp’s. From remodeling the cinema when they first bought the building, to battling through the Covid pandemic, to scrubbing down walls, and more, the Camp’s have put their blood, sweat, and tears into making a place where families can come and have some quality family time.

“It’s just been a whirlwind,” Elisabeth confessed with a laugh. “It’s been exhausting, too. But it’s just so awesome for us to see so many families happy and having something to do.”

Construction has started on the sports complex, which was part of the original dream and plan. Jason had been affiliated with several professional sports teams in Florida before coming to Ashland, even having a World Series ring from working with the Marlins. Having a sports complex was particularly important to him.

The complex will have pickleball, archery, a 24-hour gym, locker room and more. Some of that will be completed in about six months.

“This has been our heart project,” Elisabeth explained. “We have nurtured it and fought for it.”

The Camp’s also appreciate the way the area has given their patronage to Camp Landing.

“We want to thank the community for their support,” Elisabeth said. “That is what has gotten us this far. Without that, we’d be nothing.”

Come out to Camp Landing on Saturday, July 18 from noon to five p.m. and help Jason and Elisabeth celebrate five years of fun at the Camp Landing Entertainment District. You don’t want to miss it! Camp Landing… Where Fun Begins!
