Mark your calendars for October. 5, as Ashland, Kentucky, gears up for the much-anticipated Firkin Fest, a lively celebration of craft beer that has become a staple in our community. Hosted in the Paramount Arts Center’s parking lot (located at the corner of 14th St. and Winchester Ave), this year’s festival promises an exciting lineup of entertainment, local vendors, and delicious food, all set against the vibrant backdrop of downtown Ashland.
Firkin Fest originated nine years ago through the passionate efforts of Ashland in Motion; a dedicated group committed to enhancing our local community. Their vision was to create a beer festival that not only showcases exceptional craft brews but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and celebration among residents and visitors alike. This year, that vision continues with the event running from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., offering a perfect autumn afternoon filled with fun.
Entertainment is a major highlight of the festival, and this year’s lineup is sure to impress.
Ashton Duncan will kick off the festivities, setting the stage for an energetic evening. Following Ashton, the Jason Mays Band will take the spotlight, delivering live music that keeps the crowd entertained and engaged throughout the event. With local talent taking center stage, attendees can expect a musical experience that truly reflects the spirit of Ashland.
Craft beer lovers will have the opportunity to indulge in a wide variety of unique and flavorful brews from both local and regional breweries. Early entry tickets are available for $65, allowing access to the festival an hour early, from 4 p.m., giving ticket holders the chance to be the first to sample the craft beer offerings. General Admission Tickets are priced at $50 and provide entry from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For those who prefer to enjoy the music and food without sampling beer, entry to the event is free. However, beer sampling requires a ticket purchase, so be sure to plan accordingly!
The festival will feature an array of local food trucks, providing delicious options to satisfy every palate. Food enthusiasts can enjoy mouthwatering offerings from Fat Boy Q, Matney's Woodfired Pizza, M & J Rolling Cafe, and Chuy's Mexican Street Food. Additionally, attendees can grab a refreshing beverage from Travelin Tom's Coffee Truck or enjoy a refreshing drink from a local favorite … Sadie Jane's Lemonade.
A special feature of Firkin Fest is its commitment to supporting local businesses. This year, boutiques like SoAsh Haberdash, Local Mercantile, and Abby Mae's Boutique will be showcasing their unique offerings at the event. There is still space for more local boutiques to join in, making this a fantastic opportunity for the community to shop local while enjoying the festivities.
As we approach the event, it’s important to note that ticket prices will increase by $10 on the day of the festival, so purchasing tickets in advance online is highly recommended to save money and avoid long lines. Remember, you must be 21 years or older to purchase a ticket, and a valid ID is required for entry. Carly Thomas, Visit AKY’s Community Engagement Director shared, “This year will be a bit different, because our beer team has supplied us with nonalcoholic beer for those who don't drink, but still love the taste. In addition, our Mystery Market will be going on simultaneously at Broadway Square, just a couple of blocks from Firkin Fest.”
“Don’t miss out on this chance to celebrate Ashland’s vibrant craft beer culture! Join us at Firkin Fest for an unforgettable day filled with live music, fantastic food, and, of course, a diverse selection of fall craft beers. Raise a glass with us on Oct. 5, and let’s make this year’s festival the best yet! For tickets and more information, visit Firkin Fest. Cheers!” noted Thomas.
