Shannon Kinder, a Catlettsburg native, is the face behind Crafternal Mind and describes herself as, “An ADHD crafter that's always creating, from cutesy to gory. I cover it.” Kinder’s unique pop-up style business began long ago with Kinder’s love of crafting. Being a lifelong crafter, Kinder has always enjoyed crafting for friends and family which is how her business got started. Friends and family would come to her with custom orders, and this slowly flourished into a pop-up vendor gig with a unique array of items on display. Being told how talented she was and how she should sell her creations by her neighbor and friends, Kinder decided to set up her first pop up at a vendor show at the Boyd County Convention Center in late 2019.

At Crafternal Mind, you will find a wide variety of items such as cutesy succulent planter earrings, handmade crochet items, fidget items, all the way to doll head planters, both bone jewelry and art, and creepy dolls. Kinder says crafting is something she loves and will continue to partake in pop-ups even when her future plans for herself may change, she loves her clients, the community and what she does.

With her style of crafting differing greatly from your typical crafter, Kinder has been able to capitalize on her unique creativity and eye for gory style.  When she first started Crafternal Mind, Kinder would craft items that others were asking for or what was considered “the norm”. She would often craft items specific for the theme of whatever show intended to set up at.

Once Crafternal Mind became more established Kinder slowly began to make and showcase items that were more “her”, slowly adding a little more grim and gore to each unique creation. After her ankle surgery a few years ago, Kinder had a lot of down time and began looking for new and unusual items to craft with. She some purchased bones from Etsy and started making her bone jewelry. “This has been such a great seller and is usually one of the items I usually sell out of at most events. Especially at Wizzardfest. Wizzardfest is an annual event held in Ironton, Ohio every November.” Kinder explained.

If you are interested in purchasing one of Kinder’s items or want to have a piece commissioned, you can contact her by calling 606.585.4600 or by emailing her at crafternalmind@yahoo.com. Be sure to check out her Facebook page- Crafternal Mind so you can stay up to date on all the latest products that Kinder has to offer.

Be sure to check Crafternal Mind at any one of these upcoming events… on June 29, 2024, Kinder will be set up at the Arts and Community Day, which will be held at the Chesapeake Flea Market, Granny’s one day sale coming up on July 10, 2024, and a Comic-Con in Huntington on August 10, 2024 – August 11, 2024. Kinder shared that the event she is most excited for is Catlettsburg’s Freedom celebration on July 6, 2024. As a member of the Catlettsburg Leadership Development Council Inc. (CLCDC), Kinder helps put on this event and book the vendors as well as setting up her own pop up there. With its many food trucks, crafting vendors, entertainment, fireworks and more… Kinder declared that this will be a show that you don’t want to miss and that in her opinion is has the best fireworks show in the area.
