A Holiday Set List That’s Sure to Bring the Merry

Christmas is just around the corner, and the excitement awaits as we enter the season of joy. Something special fills the air each year as millions of people partake in the holiday cheer. From ice rinks to farmers markets, each year we find ourselves drifting from festivals to inspired Christmas events as we look to continue with the honored traditions handed down to us from those who have perfected them. Everywhere we look there is something wonderful happening this time of the year, leaving the question of “Where do we go to next for our Christmas family fun?”

As Christmas approaches, Greenup County, Kentucky, has planned for a month filled with exciting holiday events that will certainly bring smiles to everyone who attends. There are always events we would like to schedule that sound fun but might be outside of our work calendars. Greenup County has your back this year with events that will be running for several days at a time through Christmas and the holidays. No matter what our busy days may be, there could be something waiting for us during this year’s celebrations.

If you’re looking for a beautiful scene filled with joy and holiday spirit, then the Christmas Market and Lights with Greenbo Lake State Resort Park may be the perfect choice this year. December 12th 3 p.m. – 7 p.m., Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Dec. 14 from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. are set for the festivities as lights and gifts will be available for those who attend. Gifts and cheer will be held at the cozy and expansive Jesse Stuart Lodge located within the park. For everyone looking to take in the sights and sounds with the Christmas lights, they will be installed near the amphitheater located in the valley overlooked by the lodge. With views of the lodge and lake, live music, treats, local vendors, and plenty of surprises, there is certainly something waiting for us with the Christmas Market and Lights at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park. Don’t forget to visit Santa!

Can’t make it to the resort? No worries, The Magic of Main Street is ready to rock around the Christmas tree. This year Christmas in Greenup will be kicking off with Christmas in Greenup. The event will host the Extravaganza of Trees from Thanksgiving to December 8th. Located in the Greenup County Courthouse at 301 Main St. #1, Greenup, Kentucky, both floors will be filled with lights and 34 trees as they are auctioned for the season. Winners of the auction can pick the trees up beginning on December 8th as they become available. Christmas on the Square will be held Sunday, Dec. 7, from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m., as Santa makes his way through town cheering on in the name of Christmas spirit. Santa will be making stops through the community as he brings with him the jolly bearded smile he is known for. There will be prizes from Santa, a Live Nativity Scene, Oh Snap, Black Hat Karaoke, the Guyana River Cloggers, craft and food vendors, and the first 500 kids get a free meal with Texas Roadhouse.

Following Christmas on the Square will be Greenup County’s Christmas Parade. Set for 5 p.m. on Dec.7, come join in the fun as parade floats and marchers from local businesses, churches, bands, civic groups, first responders, classic cars, tractors, and others make their way through the city cheering on the community with excitement. To wrap up the Christmas celebration, there will be cash prizes for participants who would like to bring their holiday costumes and Christmas spirit. No Santa costumes please, as Santa will already be present and could confuse the children during the event.
