Hop Into Spring
Be Our Guest at the Bunny Hop!

Load the kids in the car and bring them to Camp Landing where they can “hop on down the bunny trail” during the second annual Bunny Hop! On Friday evening, April 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., there will be candy, prizes, and loads of fun for the whole family.
Kacy Abrams, Boyd County Community Development Director, is very excited about this year’s event and shared, “We have over 40 local businesses and organizations that will be set up for the kids to visit their tables and collect candy. Every business has donated an Easter basket, and each child will be given a ticket for the drawing to possibly win a basket. Additional tickets for the drawing can be received by making a purchase from one of the stores at Camp Landing.”
The Easter Bunny will also be on hand for photos. “Last year we had the Easter Bunny, and everyone could take their own photos. However, this year we thought it would be nice to have a professional photographer on-site for photos. Courthead Does Photography will be there for the event and the photos are 100% FREE!” Abrams noted. “For families with several kids, it is really hard sometimes to find things for them to do. That’s why I always try to have a free aspect to every event we … like the free photos for the Bunny Hop.” Everyone will receive a QR code to download their photos after the event.
For those planning to attend, the line will form at Cowboys and Angels. That’s where children will receive their ticket for the Easter basket drawing. The drawing will be held at 8 p.m., and you must be present to win.
As the Community Development Director, Abrams’s main focus is planning and implementing family-friendly community events, and in her own words, her favorite ones are “free.” The Bunny Hop is just the first of several exciting events she has lined up this year.
Coming in June are two more fun-filled gatherings. The first is Touch a Truck on June 6 at the Boyd County Convention Center.
Abrams explained, “From 10–11 a.m. will be our sensory hour. There won’t be any lights or sirens during this time. Then from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. will be full sirens, lights, etc. Last year some of the police allowed the kids to talk on the walkie-talkies and it came through the car. They could turn on the sirens or lights and sit in the fire trucks and other vehicles. We are also excited that Batman will be joining us this year and arriving in the Bat Car.”
Next up is The Longest Day of Play, held on June 20 at the old Boyd County High football field. Families can play the evening away with inflatables, water slides, a foam party, food, Kona Ice, and crafts beginning at 6 p.m. The evening will wrap up with a movie under the stars at 9 p.m. And of course – the best part – everything is FREE, even the food!
The final event of the summer is Suncatchers and Snow Cones, to be held at Armco Park on July 18. Each child will receive a suncatcher to paint and enjoy free Kona Ice. This is the third year for this colorful, creative event and it was the very first one Abrams hosted in the county.
More details will be available on these events as the dates draw closer. If you're a local business or organization and would like to sponsor or help with any of the events, please reach out to Kacy Abrams. She can also provide information about the Bunny Hop or any of the upcoming events.
