Celebrates Grand Opening of Greenup Location

Kee’s Farm Service & Supply officially celebrated the grand opening of its

new Greenup location on Saturday, welcoming community members, customers, and local supporters for a day of connection and celebration.

The expansion marks a significant milestone for the locally owned business, which has served the region for decades.

Originally founded by Pete Kee in Grayson in the 1980s, the business later included a Greenup location that closed in 2007.

Current owners, Jason and Hannah McGlone purchased the Grayson store in November 2012 and have continued to grow its reach and impact ever since.

The new Greenup location opened its doors on March 2, reestablishing a presence in the community. “We saw an opportunity to serve the agriculture community. We both have a background and passion for agriculture, and it was the perfect fit for our lifestyle,

” said Hannah McGlone.

The decision to expand into Greenup was driven by both opportunity and need.

“I don’t know if there ever was ‘a good time, but the opportunity arose and we realized there was a need in the Greenup community for a feed and farm supply store,” McGlone said. “I’m

sure glad we did, because there is never a day goes by since we’ve been open that a customer doesn’t walk in and say ‘I’m so glad y’all are here! We needed this in Greenup!’”

The new location allows Kee’s to better serve customers across Greenup County and neighboring areas, including Scioto and Lawrence counties, many of whom previously traveled to Grayson.

“We’ve always had a customer base from Greenup County, but they did have a far drive to come visit us in Grayson,” McGlone said.

“We’ve already seen an increase in Greenup, Scioto and Lawrence community members visiting our new location.” With a strong agricultural presence in the region, the expansion was a natural fit. “We’ve always known that those communities are a strong agricultural base so it just made sense that we would be able to open up a farm supply store and service the community,” she added.

Kee’s Farm Service & Supply has built its reputation on customer relationships, product knowledge, and a commitment to quality—values that McGlone says continue to set it apart from larger chain competitors.

“We pride ourselves at Kee’s to have affordable prices, good selection of products and great customer service, ” McGlone said.

“It’s sometimes the feeling of David and Goliath being a small business. I don’t know why the general public just assumes small businesses are always more expensive or harder to shop with. If reasonable prices on high quality products, employee knowledge and a high-quality small business is what they want, they need to come check our store out.”

Customers visiting the Greenup location can expect a welcoming, knowledgeable environment designed to meet a wide range of agricultural needs. “Our customers will be greeted with a smile by one of our team members, ready to help you find what you need,” McGlone said.

“We have stocked the store to have anything a backyard chicken owner to a farmer would need. We are ready to offer suggestions and knowledge of products as customer requests.”

While the new location mirrors much of what customers find in Grayson, it also places a special emphasis on serving livestock exhibitors and youth involved in agricultural projects. Beyond products and services, McGlone says the heart of Kee’s lies in its people. “Having a workplace that has created a family environment for team members and customers,” she said when reflecting on what she is most proud of.

“We have been able to raise our kids in a small business, learning responsibilities and how to interact with the customers.”

Looking ahead, the McGlones envision continued, steady growth while remaining deeply rooted in the communities they serve. “We are expecting steady growth in both locations as we build our customer base & product lines,” McGlone said.

“We plan to grow our businesses to service the ag community, be a

resource for customers and the ag industry. We want to become a staple in Greenup County for farmers and local residents.”

As Kee’s enters this new chapter, its mission remains clear. “Our mission at both locations is to help cultivate agriculture growth in our communities,” McGlone said. “K ee’s Farm Service is a locally owned & operated business that has serviced the communities for decades,” she added. “Our goal is to provide affordable prices, good selection and great customer service.
