Event planning provides an ideal creative outlet for individuals with a passion for conceptualizing and executing unique experiences. From designing captivating themes to selecting stunning venues, event planners have the opportunity to express their artistic flair and bring their clients' visions to life. Event planning involves meticulous attention to detail, creative vision, and logistical expertise to ensure that the event runs smoothly and achieves its intended goals. Valarie Jenkins, an event planner of 10 years, started her business, Magnolia Events & Design Company in April, and has hit the ground running.
Jenkins found her love for coordinating events when she worked for an assisted living home as a marketing and residential events coordinator. She then branched out planning parties and events for family and friends. But her favorite type of event to plan is of course … Children’s birthday parties! “I remember as a kid how important my family made my birthday; they went all out. It really created long lasting memories for me, and I wanted to help create that moment for other children.” recalled Jenkins.
Having such fond memories of her own parties growing up, Jenkins knew that she wanted to help others achieve the same memories. So, she set out on a mission to make it happen. Jenkins shared, “When I lived in Lexington there was a large supply and demand of these types of businesses, and when I moved back to this area, I knew that is what I wanted to provide to my community.”
Alongside birthday parties, Jenkin’s company provides event rental supplies, entertainment and décor for all types of parties and design elements. One of the most popular events recently has been their foam parties. From 60-120 minutes of foam and fun, their Foam Parties are complete with music, beach balls, and so much fun. The foam is hypoallergenic and biodegradable making them fun for all ages and abilities.
Magnolia Events & Design Company prides themselves in their affordability and creativity in giving you the freedom to have a unique party, while they do all the work. The team includes florists, wedding designers, three assistant designers- who run your parties from start to finish-and many contracted vendors that provide all your party necessities.
Event prices include deliveries, setup and tear down as well as many unique handmade decoration items. Some of these include Champagne walls and white bounce houses perfect for weddings, large yard games, balloon arches and garlands, personalized backdrops, marquee letters and so much more.
Jenkins says her five-year plan is to be completely self-sustainable. With trends constantly changing, so is her inventory. She is adding new items weekly to provide the unique items for her clients. Her goal with this company is to empower others. “I want them to create their own event business or join me. I would love to branch out and have others working with me to leave families with the best memories, just like I have of their important moments.” shared Jenkins.
