When disaster strikes a home—a burst pipe, creeping mold, or an unexpected flood—it rarely happens at a convenient time. For homeowners in the region, Restoration RX has become the name they call when stress is high and answers are needed fast. But behind the trucks, equipment, and emergency calls is a story rooted in family, faith, and a deep commitment to the community.

Restoration RX officially launched about a year and eight months ago, but its foundation was years in the making. Owner Joel Duelley spent more than six years operating under a franchise in the restoration industry. Before that, he climbed the corporate ladder for 56 years, traveling often and chasing professional advancement. Eventually, the constant travel took its toll.

“I really just got homesick,” Duelley said. “I wanted to move back home and do something else I was passionate about—which is entrepreneurship.”

That turning point aligned perfectly with another major life change. Duelley’s mother had just retired most recently as a college professor at KCTCS. With her retirement, Duelley saw an opportunity not just to start a business, but to build something meaningful with his family and for his hometown. “When my mom retired, I started as an independent restoration company, and that’s the formation of Restoration RX,” he explained.

From the beginning, Restoration RX was about more than repairing homes—it was about investing in people. Duelley says providing living-wage jobs has always been central to his mission.

“There are a lot of great, hardworking people in this area who need jobs that can support their families,” he said. “I wanted to provide a place where they could feel appreciated, respected, and make a good wage. I love what I do, and I am so blessed that I get to live in this community and be an employer in this community.” That sense of purpose was reinforced almost immediately.

One of the very first jobs Restoration RX took on was in Ohio, a call Duelley says he will never forget. The homeowners were dealing with severe mold issues that were directly impacting their health.

“The mold in the home was making the owners so sick, and the son was having constant nosebleeds,” Duelley recalled. “Over the course of two weeks, I was able to see the transformation in their health.”

Watching the family recover as their home was restored confirmed what Duelley already felt deep down—that leaving the security of corporate America was the right decision.

“I knew that God put me in my place,” he said. “Seeing them healthy again, happy, moving around—it was incredible. They even invited us over for pizza one night. In that moment, I knew everything was exactly as it should be.”

Today, Restoration RX is far more than a mold remediation company. With more than eight years of combined experience in the restoration industry, the company has grown into a full-service emergency response and general contracting operation. Their services include water, mold, fire, and sewage mitigation, as well as full reconstruction.

Speed is a defining factor. Restoration RX operates as an emergency response team, often arriving on-site within one to two hours of a call. Just this week alone, the team responded to three separate water emergencies—each on the same day.

“That quick response helps alleviate customer concerns and prevents further damage,” Duelley said. “Water, sewage, or fire damage can escalate quickly if it’s not handled right away.”

Behind the scenes, the process is designed to be seamless for homeowners during an otherwise overwhelming time. Calls are answered 24/7, and as soon as contact is made—by phone or online—a project manager is dispatched, usually within an hour.

From there, the team diagnoses the issue, determines whether additional services like plumbing are needed, and walks homeowners’ step by step through the insurance process before mitigation begins.

In addition to emergency services, Restoration RX also focuses on prevention. Many basements and crawlspaces flood not from broken pipes, but from groundwater and drainage issues. The company provides waterproofing solutions to protect these vulnerable areas and maintain healthy indoor air quality.

“Fifty percent of the air people breathe comes from the basement and crawlspace,” Duelley explained. “Having water, mold, or sewage down there isn’t just a structural issue—it’s a health issue.”

Call Restoration RX when you need them most for dependable, high-quality service throughout the Tri-State area.

As Restoration RX continues to grow, its mission remains unchanged: respond quickly, restore thoroughly, and serve the community with integrity.

“It’s a blessing to have such a hardworking team willing to show up at a moment’s notice,” Duelley said. “Helping people through some of their worst days—that’s what we’re here for.”

For Restoration RX, restoring homes is just the beginning. Restoring peace of mind—and strengthening the community they call home—is the real work.
