Something exciting is coming to the Tri-State area, and it’s for all the fierce, fun-loving, and outdoor-obsessed women out there! Safari Club International (SCI) – Coal Country Chapter is thrilled to announce its first-ever Ladies Event, happening Saturday, April 26th at 3 p.m. Whether you're passionate about hunting, fishing, conservation, or simply love a great safari-themed party—this is one event you won’t want to miss!
Safari Club International is no ordinary organization. With a powerful mission to promote conservation, protect the freedom to hunt, advocate for ethical practices, and educate youth on wildlife stewardship, SCI has been a driving force in the outdoor world for over 50 years. With more than 100,000 members across 115 countries, and $80 million invested in conservation efforts globally, SCI is the real deal when it comes to making a lasting impact.

Now, the spotlight turns local, as the SCI Coal Country Chapter—serving the Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky area—rolls out the red carpet for its women warriors of the wild. This event is a celebration of sisterhood, strength, and support for an incredible cause.
What’s on the Agenda? An afternoon packed with food, drinks, games, prizes, a chance to support SCI’s conservation mission, and an evening of unforgettable memories with new and old friends. And let’s not forget: a Safari-themed costume contest—so dig out your best khakis, leopard print, or explorer gear because there’s a prize for Best Dressed up for grabs!

Leading this wild ride is none other than Elizabeth Dean, the 2019 SCI Young Huntress of the World. Dean’s passion for the outdoors runs deep raised in Ashland, she grew up hunting and fishing with her dad and now works outside as an equipment operator for her family’s business, Blacktop Industries. A lifelong SCI member, Dean’s accomplishments in the field and classroom earned her international recognition and the honor of speaking at SCI’s prestigious annual convention in Reno, Nevada.
“Being involved in SCI, is like having a giant family full of like-minded people who support the freedom to hunt, but also the importance of wildlife conservation. It’s a great feeling to know that you are contributing to an organization that supports such a good cause. Even though Safari Club International is a worldwide organization, they have over 180 chapters and we are lucky enough to have one locally for our Tri state area of Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky.

You can find “Safari Club International Coal Country Chapter” on Facebook to learn more about our local chapter and our community. We have monthly chapter meetings and would love to have more people become involved. Our local chapter is involved in events for our local schools and communities, to educate the importance of what we stand for, Dean Explained.
Joining Dean in hosting are fellow outdoorswomen Deborah Tiller, Lisa Den, and Megan Clark, all active members of the local chapter and proud advocates for women in the hunting world.
SCI continues to break barriers through inclusive programs like “Women Go Hunting” and “Sables,” which celebrate the role of women in the outdoors and promote family-friendly hunting experiences. SCI believes that women aren’t just participants—they’re leaders in the conservation movement.

You don’t want to miss your chance to check out this amazing event! This is more than just an event—it’s a chance to be part of something bigger. A community. A cause. A family.
