64th DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

 

ASHLAND 1 BOYD COUNTY 0 -- CHAMPIONSHIP


Ashland tallied only two hits in the contest but one of those turned into what would be the only run in the contest as the Tomcats defeated Boyd County, 1-0 for the 64th District Championship.

 

Parker Church and River Lynch collected the lone hits for the Tomcats and Dawson Morris plated the winning run. Drew Kelley worked a complete-game shutout while allowing six hits and struck out five in the win.

 

Brogan Jones led the Lions with a pair of hits. Kaleb Kelley doubled. Grant Slater suffered the loss. He worked four innings while allowing one hit and one unearned run. He struck out nine.

 

Ashland met Russell Monday in the opening round of the 16th Region Tournament at Boyd County.

 

ASHLAND 6 FAIRVIEW 0 – OPENING ROUND

 

LJ Murphy hurled a complete-game shutout of Fairview while striking out 12 as Ashland defeated the Eagles, 6-0. Murphy also paced the Tomcats at the plate as he went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles. Brady Marushi had a pair of doubles and drove in a run. Parker Church drove in a run.

 

Fairview closes the season at 14-13.

 

63RD DISTRICT

 

RACELAND 1 RUSSELL 0 – CHAMPIONSHIP


Kadin Shore stymied Russell for much of the night as the Raceland ace allowed only two hits while striking out seven in a 1-0 Rams win of the 63rd District Championship. The district title was the fourth consecutive for the Rams.

 

Eli Lynd had a pair of hits for the Rams. Parker Ison, Cade Coldiron and Brigham Davidson collected the other three hits for the Rams.

 

Russell’s Avery Lother was equally as dominate for the Devils. He allowed only one unearned run and five hits in the complete-game outing. Hayden McGuire and Lother tallied the lone Russell hits.

 

Raceland met Boyd County Monday in the 16th Region Tournament at Boyd County. Russell faced Ashland.

 

OPENING ROUND

 

RACELAND 16 LEWIS COUNTY 1 (4 INNINGS)

 

Raceland wasted little time in clinching a berth into the district championship with a 16-1 win over Lewis County in four innings.

 

Landon Bloss allowed one hit in the win from the bump while striking out three. Parker Ison and Bloss both went 3 for 3. Ison had a double and drove in two. Bloss drove in four. Eli Lynd went 2 for 3 with five RBIs. Kadin Shore and Brigham Davidson each added a pair of hits. Davidson tripled and drove in two.

 

RUSSELL 6 GREENUP COUNTY 2

 

Greenup County struck first but Russell had the final say in the rubber match of the series in the opening round of the district tournament.

 

Kyle Mokas worked a complete game while allowing only five hits to lead Russell to a 6-2 win. Mokas struck out eight and did not walk a batter. Mokas allowed three hits in the first inning but held the Musketeers to only two hits the rest of the way.

 

Jacob Tolliver went 2 for 3 for the Devils. Keoni Ancheta, Grayson Kiser and Dawson Wada drove in runs. Gunnar Hignite added an RBI double.

 

Sawyer Hatfield and Ty Logan collected four of the five Greenup hits.

 

Greenup closes the season at 15-18.
