Down by the river where the ghosts go to play, is a steamy little town with fun on the way. Hop on your brooms, hitch a ride with your mummy, games will start soon, and food for your tummies. If you’re looking for chills and a frightful good time, roll down the hills and hop on in line. Where ghoulies and goblins play trick-or-treat, Halloweentown is coming, so shuffle those feet.

Get your candy pails and grab your costumes, it is time for Downtown Russell’s Halloweentown. Spanning across Ferry St. and Bellefonte St. of Russell, Kentucky, Halloweentown has something for all trick-or-treaters, young and old. Beginning October 1st and running to October 31st, Halloweentown will be filled with excitement from start to finish. The fun begins with trivia that is scheduled to be hosted every Wednesday and bingo on each Thursday. Fun-filled events are set for 6 p.m. on all those evenings. Oktoberfest and beer trivia are scheduled for October 11th, making for a bubbly good time. Haunt Your House is listed for a chilling good night starting on October 13th and running until October 31st. Looking to mend those old hole-filled jeans or put together a blanket for the kids? Look no further, as there will be a 6-week Sewing 101 class starting on the 14th. Grab your sheets and pointed hats—it’s time for the costume party fundraiser hosted by The Nest Day Spa and Eridanus Brewing. The costume party will be running on the 17th and will take place from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. If you are into haunting-good country, Kyle Tipton will be performing at Wings Etc. on October 17th at 7 p.m.

Ready to sparkle and shine for this Halloweentown event? The Dream Diamond Event with West End Jewelers is going to be taking place on October 18th, adding a shimmer to the occasion. What’s even better is West End Jewelers is offering a spooky-good deal. During Halloweentown, there will be a $100-off bonus for a $300 purchase with West End Jewelers that I’m sure will make all the mummies smile. The $100 incentive is limited to each purchase and cannot be stacked.

Grab the little gremlins and make your way to El Colonial for Family Night on the 22nd. Bring your appetite and be ready to scream with exhilaration as we celebrate a spicy evening together. On October 24th, Nick Owens and Kyleigh Pauley will be performing at Wings Etc., scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.

October 25th is the night of frightfully filled fun we have been anticipating. Halloweentown is going to be up and ready for everyone from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is intended to entertain all the Halloween-goers, whether you’re there for a bite to eat or to be knocked out of your socks with elation. Halloweentown will consist of Trick-or-Treat, the Witch’s Market, wrestling, a costume contest, food trucks to keep you fueled through the event, carriage rides, dance performances, inflatables for all those hopping toads out there, a haunted tunnel and alley, local events with the nearby restaurants, and a live DJ and bagpipe performance to ring in the Halloween spirit.

Are you wanting to give something special this Halloween? Adopt-A-Skeleton Decorating Contest is a skeleton adoption contest where participants can adopt a skeleton for $50. Each donation will land you a 5-and-a-half-foot-tall skeleton, certificate, and care instructions. On October 24th, judges will announce the winners of the decorating contest at the Halloweentown event. Register at bit.ly/adoptaskeleton.

Rocketing into the future of 2074, come place your desired items in the time capsule at 4 p.m. The time capsule is intended to be reopened in 2074 and will remain closed until then. This event is marked for the 17th.

Make no doubt about it—this October is going to be one to remember with haunted houses, contests, spooky carriage rides, and entertainment for days. There are even shopping and dining specials for all your haunting desires. Pin your calendars and remember to throw on your costumes, as Downtown Russell’s Halloweentown awaits.
