The Story of Aubrey Brislin

For Ashland Blazer senior Aubrey Brislin, life has always been about passion, perseverance, and purpose. Whether she’s soaring through the air at cheer competitions, excelling in the classroom, or preparing for a future in nursing, Aubrey has embraced every opportunity with heart, faith, and determination.
Aubrey describes herself in a way that perfectly captures her vibrant personality and strong values: “I have a 4.0 GPA, I am a child of God, I like to listen to music loudly in the car, cheer is my 2nd home, I always hangout with my all-star family, and I am Disney addict.”
A proud student at Paul G. Blazer High School, Aubrey’s high school years have been filled with unforgettable memories, meaningful friendships, and personal growth. One of the moments she cherishes most came on one of cheerleading’s biggest stages.
“The most memorable part of high school was going to compete at high school nationals in Orlando Florida,” she shared. “I love being with all my girls and being able to do my favorite thing and show off all that we have worked for!”
Cheerleading has been much more than a sport for Aubrey — it has been a way of life. From the time she first stepped into a tumbling class as a little girl, she knew she had found something special.

“I actually started out doing dance and then when I was 5 my mom took me to the first tumbling class and I was hooked on it.”
That passion only grew stronger over the years. “Cheer is my favorite sport, and I have done it my whole life,” Aubrey said. “I love that it brings a group of people together and it makes a family. We travel together and have a bond stronger than most teammates.”
For Aubrey, the lessons learned through cheer have shaped the person she is becoming.
“Cheer has really shaped who I am as I have done it my whole life. You learn so many lessons that you don’t learn in school and I have many relationships with girls who are more like sisters and mean the world to me. I can learn who to be a leader and how to grow as a person.”
Her dedication to the sport has also helped her grow into a leader. “I have changed so much from freshman year to now,” she reflected. “I grew not only as a student but also as an athlete. I have stepped into bigger leadership roles for cheer and upped my skills.”
Aubrey’s commitment extends far beyond athletics. Throughout high school, she has immersed herself in numerous organizations and academic programs.
“I do school cheer and all-star cheer. I have been in beta club, key club, student council, FCCLA, and mu alpha theta. I am a part of the biomed pathway and received my white coat.”

Even while balancing a demanding schedule, Aubrey remained focused on excellence both academically and personally.
“I am most proud of being baptized and having good grades while playing sports.”
Her faith continues to guide every aspect of her life.
“I know that God has a plan for me, so I want to fulfill whatever plan he has. I try to give my all to everything that I do.”
That faith is also leading her toward the next chapter. Aubrey plans to attend Kentucky Christian University, where she feels called to continue growing spiritually and academically.
“I plan to attend KCU because it is a Christian school and the area is great down there. Something just pulled me in, and I have a great feeling about it!”
Aubrey plans to pursue a career in nursing with the dream of working in neonatal intensive care.
“I plan to go into nursing. I want to be a NICU nurse. I have always loved working with kids and knew I also wanted to do something in the medical field!”
“I would love to be a NICU nurse.”
Her compassion for others is at the center of her goals for the future. “I hope to make a positive impact on the nursing community. I have always felt led to help people, especially kids.”
As she prepares for college, Aubrey knows change is coming, but she is embracing it with optimism and faith.
“I am most nervous for having a new schedule and being in a place that I am not familiar with, but I am most excited to see God’s plan for me.”
Looking ahead, Aubrey sees a future filled with both career success and personal happiness. “I see myself becoming a NICU nurse and starting a family.”
Along the way, several people have made a lasting impact on her life, especially one teacher who always offered support and encouragement.
“The teacher that has had the most impact on me is Ms. P! She loves all of her students, and we can talk to her about anything, and she will always help us out!”
Aubrey also credits cheerleading with teaching discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
“I think cheerleaders have to be the most self-disciplined and dedicated athletes. It takes 4 people to make one stunt work and everyone has to give their all every time.”
Among her favorite cheer memories was celebrating a huge victory alongside her teammates.
“One of my favorite memories about cheerleading was winning first place in both in-game competitions for the boys and girls basketball team. It was truly special to celebrate with my girls.” She also admires elite all-star programs that demonstrate both talent and humility.
“Cali Black Ops is an all-star team that I look up to because they are all so kind and super creative with their routines. They are incredibly talented athletes and humble when you meet them off the floor.”
Even after graduation, Aubrey’s cheer journey may not be over just yet. “I plan to do one more year of all-star and then we will see where it takes me.”
And if she had to choose only one path forever, the answer would be simple.
“I would do cheer because it’s been my whole life.”
Of course, Aubrey’s high school journey wasn’t without challenges. She learned to adapt and push herself academically when college coursework became part of her routine.
“When I started taking college classes in high school it was a change of pace and I needed to adjust to it.”
Still, she views success through a deeply personal lens. “I define success by my own personal growth. It’s not always about winning or losing but more about how I feel and what I take away from the situation.”
Her experience at Blazer helped shape that mindset. “I would say it was very goal orientated. There were pathways set with specific goals for me to accomplish.”
For younger students following behind her, Aubrey offers heartfelt advice.
“I would tell them to be themselves and always put 100% in what you want to do.”
And while she’s excited for the future, there’s one high school moment she wishes she could experience all over again.
“I would relive senior cheer tryout day for high school so that I could relive all of these great memories.”
Aubrey also proudly embraces the little things that make her uniquely herself.
“I am caffeine lover and I am obsessed with Alanis.”
As graduation approaches, Aubrey Brislin leaves behind a legacy of leadership, kindness, faith, and determination. From the sidelines to the classroom, she has inspired teammates, classmates, and teachers alike through her relentless work ethic and uplifting spirit.
Her future is bright, and if her high school journey is any indication, there is no doubt Aubrey will continue making a powerful impact everywhere she goes.
