Fun Time in the Autumn Air

The Annual Fall Hayride with Boyd County Community & Economic Development

Thrills come in many forms, and we often seek something beyond our usual routines when deciding where to go over the weekend. Our preferences for spending a wonderful autumn afternoon can be influenced by friends, family, and whatever we happen upon along the way. A trip to the movies, an outing to a park, or even a visit to a museum may be among the activities on our weekend lists.

This time of year, we see pumpkin patches, farm outings, and festivals across the country. Finding our way into the sunshine to enjoy a day of relaxation and carefree indulgence is a must as we prepare for the following week. With cool air and warm rays of sunshine upon us, many will be searching for that memorable fall experience.

Come one, come all, to the 2026 Fall Hayride with Boyd County Community & Economic Development! If you’re looking for an awesome way to kick off the fall season, the Fall Hayride, scheduled for Nov. 1, promises a fun time while keeping the community in mind.

With an interest in bringing the community together for a wholesome fall experience, Kacy Abrams and Boyd County Community & Economic Development have been spreading joy through the Fall Hayride since 2023.

This year, the Fall Hayride will take place in the field behind the Boyd County Preschool, located at 12307 Midland Trail Road in Ashland. Guests will have the chance to meet some wild and friendly critters, as Honey Hill Farm will be on-site with its petting zoo animals, all eager to meet visitors.

A ride on a tractor-pulled trailer stacked with hay, along with some furry friends, sounds like a winning combination, but there’s even more to enjoy. Along with a fun ride around the area near the preschool and Boyd County grounds, guests can enjoy a free lunch made possible by donations from River Valley Church, Ramey Estep, The Write Touch Studio, Members Choice Credit Union, Kentucky Power, UK King's Daughters, Ashland Community and Technical College, Marathon Petroleum, Boyd County Community & Economic Development, and Boyd County Government.

Why stop at free food? Everyone who attends can also enjoy crafting activities and a photo session. Courthead Does Photography will be on-site to provide free photos that guests can place in picture frames they make during the event.

If spending time with some fuzzy buddies while enjoying free food and crunching on Kona Ice sounds like a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, the Fall Hayride may be just the place to be. Kacy said she likes “the nachos and cheese with hot dog sauce,” and I agree entirely.

A food drive will also be set up, so gather those Thanksgiving nonperishable food items and help prepare meals for the community.

A day to relax and enjoy the fall atmosphere awaits! Head down to the softball field and catch a ride at one of the friendliest and most inviting events in the state. Join the fun at the Boyd County Fall Hayride on Nov. 1, from 1–5 p.m.
