Every event has a beginning, and for Little Sandy Shakedown that beginning was in 2018 when Dwight Hensley and his daughter Tiffany Corbin went to a Tyler Childers show. Corbin recalled that on the way back they were discussing the show and it occurred to them that they had a Morton Building on their property that would lend itself well to hosting live music. It wasn’t too long after that Hensley and Corbin got to work on the idea.
The two started small with just a few friends and family to sort of test the waters. It went over better than the two expected and before they knew it word had gotten out about this great new music venue. “After we tested the idea out with a few friends and family … It just sort of grew from there with every show getting bigger and bigger. So, we decided one year that we were going to try and do a festival.” Hensley noted.
It wasn’t until the summer of 2022 that “The Little Sandy Shakedown” became a full-blown event with vendors, food trucks, refreshments, and amazing music. This year’s event will take place on Friday, July 19 and run through the Saturday, July 20 at The Path Music Venue, which is located at 485 Hensley Hollow Road, Greenup Kentucky.
Music starts at 5 p.m. on Friday and noon the following day. This lineup of musical talent this year is nothing short of amazing featuring acts such as … Eldorado, Hancock & Shouse, Dale Blankenship & The Elkhounds, Gary Nichols, Dark Moon Hollow, Corduroy Brown, Emily Jamison, Leah Sunderland, The Shelby Lore Band, and many other talented artists. The Late-Night Shakedown on Saturday will be with Jayce Turley & Cardinal Point. The Little Sandy Shakedown was founded by The Pump House and Jayce Turley, so it’s a real treat to have the opportunity to see Turley in all his musical greatness during the Shakedown.
The Pump House is a live music venue that searches for local, undiscovered talent to come and showcase their talents. Corbin shared that, “the Late-Night Shakedowns are special events, and everyone loves them because it is one massive jam session. Its great because once the Band takes the stage all of their friends jump in for the sheer joy of the music.”
Vendors, food trucks, and camping will be available on site. Tent camping is available and already included in the ticket price. RV camping was available but sold out when the link to purchase tickets went live.
