With November comes crisp air, twinkling lights, and the official kickoff to the holiday season. Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s all fill the calendar with festive celebrations we’ve come to love. Families gather, communities host cheerful events, and the excitement of holiday parties and winter festivities fills the air. And with the cooler weather creeping in, one question returns every year: What on earth are we going to wear? From family dinners to a night with the Rockettes or ringing in the New Year in Times Square, there’s always a perfect outfit waiting to be found.

The age-old question of “what to wear?” instantly brings to mind the classic holiday sweater—fuzzy, warm, and often adorned with Santa, snowflakes, or a sleigh in mid-flight. Yet not all holiday gatherings call for cozy knits. Some events demand something more formal: church services, banquets, or elegant celebrations where suits and dresses feel more fitting. Each occasion calls for just the right piece, and that quest for style often sends us digging through closets before embarking on the annual holiday shopping adventure.

This year, as shoppers set out in search of sweaters, suits, dresses, and all things festive, there’s something brand new waiting to be discovered. Ady & Aves Boutique, located at 312 Ferry St. in downtown Russell, has opened just in time for the season. Nestled among the warm and growing storefronts along Ferry Street, this boutique brings a fresh and stylish flair to the neighborhood. Focused primarily on women’s clothing, Ady & Aves offers high-quality, on-trend pieces at reasonable, accessible prices.

What makes this boutique even sweeter is the story behind it. Brought to life by a mother and her daughters—who bonded over shopping trips—they now hope to share that same joy with their community. Built with family at the heart of it, the boutique aims to connect visitors with meaningful, carefully selected pieces. As Autumn shared, “We chose styles that make women and teens feel confident, comfortable, and seen. My daughters and I hand pick everything ourselves. Their perspective as teens, combined with my perspective as a mom and business owner, help us create a balanced, on trend collection.”

Choosing the perfect location was also a family effort. The trio spent time exploring different areas before being drawn to the quickly revitalizing downtown Russell district. Their boutique style fits right in with the charm and personality of the area. Autumn explained, “The downtown Russell location was selected after looking into various options available within the local area. We love the vibe in downtown Russell and all the effort that has gone into revitalizing that area. We are excited to be a part of it!”

Now officially open and decorated for the holidays, Ady & Aves is ready for Christmas shoppers to explore their racks and displays. To kick off the season, the boutique will host a Thanksgiving shopping event on November 21st and 22nd from 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Their Black Friday event will follow on November 24th from 10 a.m.–6 p.m., featuring sales, giveaways, and festive cheer.

Adding even more heart to the holidays, the boutique has created a “Giving Tree”—a special display where shoppers can donate gifts toward a toy drive for a local church. Anyone who participates will receive an extra 10% off their in-store purchase, spreading holiday kindness through both giving and receiving.

For shoppers eager to browse throughout the season, Ady & Aves’ hours are as follows:

  • Monday: 12 p.m.–6 p.m.

  • Tuesday–Friday: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

  • Saturday: 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

A shop with ambition, heart, and a love for community, Ady & Aves Boutique is quickly becoming a bright spot in the growing downtown Russell area. For your Christmas gift needs—or simply to treat yourself to something fabulous—stop in and experience the charm, style, and family-driven heart behind Ady & Aves Boutique.
