Kyler is Small, But Mighty
Hear Kingery Roar As She Battles B-ALL

Yesterday, a brave little girl from our community began the fight of her life. Khyler Kingery, the daughter of local mom Tierra and Michael Kingery, was recently diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL), a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer. In a heartbreaking Facebook post on Oct. 10, Tierra shared the devastating news that no parent should ever have to write:
“Many of you already know and as heartbreaking as it is to officially put out there, Khyler was diagnosed earlier this morning with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL).”
B-ALL effects B-cell development—white blood cells that are essential to fighting off infection. In Khyler’s case, her bone marrow began producing immature and abnormal B-cells, called lymphoblasts, that multiplied quickly, crowding out the healthy cells.
Since her diagnosis, Khyler has received blood and platelet transfusions to stabilize her blood levels in preparation for a series of intensive procedures. Monday marked a major milestone in her journey—a day filled with both hope and heartbreak.
Khyler underwent a bone marrow biopsy to help doctors determine if her cancer was random or linked to genetic markers that could affect her younger sister, Kanaan. A lumbar puncture was also performed to assess whether the cancer had spread to her cerebrospinal fluid. During the procedure, chemotherapy was administered directly into that area—just in case. In addition, a PICC line was inserted, allowing Khyler to receive medication without being repeatedly stuck by needles.
All of these procedures were done under general anesthesia, a sobering reminder of how much this small child is enduring. Still, Khyler’s parents, Tierra and Michael remain strong in faith and gratitude, asking for support during this long road ahead:

“We will be here at least 30 days and in that time, we ask that you pray on every aspect of her stay here & for us as we also navigate being there for Kanaan. Pray that these 30 days passes quickly and then that we are able to do weekly treatments which will then turn to monthly treatments. It will be a long two to two and half years but praying it passes quickly!”
Despite the diagnosis, doctors are optimistic about Khyler’s prognosis.
“They are very hopeful at this point, though we wish this wasn’t something she has to carry, this is the BEST form of leukemia to have!” Tierra shared.
And even in the face of illness, Khyler’s light continues to shine. “She has gotten many compliments of how good she does look for how sick she is and we’ve been told that her sassy attitude will be the best blessing in her fight! Thank you for all the prayers, messages, and support that has already been flowing in.”
Many in the community have asked how they can support Khyler during this difficult time. If you’d like to send a card or letter of encouragement, you can mail it directly to her hospital room:

One local business owner and friend of Tierra’s is stepping up in a powerful way.
Gabrielle Sloas, owner of Gabrielle Sloas Photography, has launched a heartfelt fundraising campaign to help support Khyler and her family. On Facebook, she announced:
“After hearing about Khyler’s story, I wanted to do something to help raise donations for her cause. That being said, I am going to donate 50% of each session booked to Khyler’s fundraiser now through Nov. 30. Message me on Facebook Messenger or shoot me a text to get your session booked for a good cause!”
“Tierra was my criss-cross partner when I was in kindergarten. She helped me in many different ways—honestly, just being by my side meant the world. I wanna help her and her family now,” shared Sloas.

So, if you're looking to update your family photos or capture special moments before the holidays, consider booking a session with Gabrielle. This is a journey no child should ever have to take, and no parent should ever have to watch. Yet in the face of this devastating diagnosis, Khyler is proving herself to be a fighter—and her family, friends, and community are rising up with her.
Let’s continue to lift Khyler and her loved ones in love, prayer, and support. Together, we can help light the path ahead for this courageous little warrior.
