Love Bites

A Valentine’s Date Night

with a Twist at Eridanus Brewing

Whether you’re dating, married, “it’s complicated,” or somewhere happily in between, you and your “other” are officially invited to kick off Valentine’s weekend in a way that’s anything but ordinary. On Friday, February 13th, Eridanus Brewing in Russell, Kentucky, is turning up the fun with its one-of-a-kind Valentine’s event, “Love Bites.” If your idea of romance includes laughter, friendly competition, great food, and locally crafted drinks, this is one date night you won’t want to miss.

Eridanus Brewing, located at 501 Ferry Street in Russell, is owned by Justin and Kristen Matthews, who recently celebrated the brewery’s four-year anniversary. Since opening their doors, the Matthews have built more than just a brewery—they’ve created a gathering place where the community comes together to relax, connect, and enjoy something made with care. Love Bites is a perfect example of that spirit.

No matter if you and your partner have been together for four months or forty years, Love Bites is designed to be a fun, laid-back way to celebrate your relationship while easing into Valentine’s weekend. The event is inspired by the classic 1970s nationally televised game show, The Newlywed Game. Couples can expect playful questions, surprising answers, and plenty of laughs as they learn just how well they really know each other—or maybe discover something new.

When asked why the event isn’t held on Saturday, February 14th, owner Justin Matthews offered a perfectly on-theme explanation: “Why not celebrate ‘Friday the 13th’ as WELL since YOU may learn something ‘horrifying’ about your partner.” It’s that lighthearted humor that sets the tone for the night—nothing too serious, just a chance to laugh, connect, and enjoy being together.

Of course, no great date night is complete without great food and drinks, and Eridanus Brewing delivers on both. The brewery features home-brewed craft beer and tea, all made on site. Even better, all dough and sauces are homemade, reflecting the care and creativity behind everything they serve. Their signature dish, The Tipsy Tomato, is a vodka sauce–inspired pizza that has quickly become a favorite among patrons. Add in their homemade beer cheese, brewed on site, and you’ve got a menu that’s worth the visit all on its own.

During Love Bites, the pizza truck will be in full operation, serving all of Eridanus Brewing’s popular dishes. Guests can enjoy favorites made with their home-crafted salsa and spinach dip, along with pizzas that showcase the brewery’s commitment to fresh, homemade ingredients. Justin shared that this is the second year Eridanus Brewing has hosted Love Bites, and they’re excited to build on last year’s success with an even better turnout and an even more memorable experience.

Love Bites is just one of many ways Eridanus Brewing stays connected to the community. Weekly Trivia Night takes place every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., often featuring themes tied to global events of the month. Coming soon is “Cleats and Eats,” a new Saturday morning experience geared toward local soccer leagues, offering breakfast pizza options and a relaxed place to gather before games.

So, grab your calendar and circle Friday, February 13th. Love Bites at Eridanus Brewing is your chance to laugh, eat, drink, and celebrate your relationship in a fun and unexpected way. It’s yet another example of a local business choosing to be with the community, not just in it.

To stay up to date on events and announcements, be sure to follow Eridanus Brewing on Facebook and Instagram—and don’t miss your chance to be part of one of the most entertaining Valentine’s events around.
