Grab your suspenders and flapper dresses—Greenup County is turning back the clock!It’s time to party like it’s 1925 at the 2025 Greenup County Fair, and this year’s theme dives headfirst into the glamour, innovation, and energy of the Roaring Twenties. From livestock shows to jazz performances, lawn mower races to the iconic demolition derby, this year promises a dazzling mix of tradition and fun for every generation. Mark your calendars: August 26–30, with a jam-packed schedule that will keep the whole family entertained all week long.

The fairgrounds will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Casey’s Rides will thrill fairgoers Tuesday through Friday from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., and Saturday from 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

  • Admission:

    • $10 – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

    • $15 – Friday and Saturday

    • Children 3 and under – Free

  • Parking: Free and available to the public

“Greenup County Fair is a long-running tradition. It has been a partnership between the Greenup County Fair Board and Greenup County Extension from the first fair in 1947. This is the 78th year for the Greenup County Fair,” said Linda S. Hieneman, UK.“County fairs began as an American tradition to gather communities and celebrate—focusing on showcasing agricultural crops and livestock. I’m so glad to see that the Greenup County Fair continues the themes of the original county fairs through Greenup County 4-H and Open Exhibits for everyone in all communities of Greenup County.”

 

Pre-Fair Festivities

Saturday, August 23 – Demolition Derby

  • Starts: 7:30 p.m.

  • Gates Open: 3:00 p.m.

  • Admission: $10

  • Children 3 and under: Free

 

Sunday & Monday: Fair Preparations

Sunday, August 24

  • 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. – Livestock stall preparation

  • 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Weigh-in for beef, rabbits, and chickens

  • 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. – Weigh-in for hogs, goats, and lambs

  • 7:30 p.m. – Final registration (record sheets required)

  • 5:45 p.m. – Miss Greenup County Fair registration at Bill Hieneman Pole Barn

  • 6:00 p.m. – Pageant rehearsal

Monday, August 25

  • 9:00 a.m. – Breeding show

  • 11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. – Livestock judging registration

  • 12:30 p.m. – Livestock judging begins

  • 6:00 p.m. – Second pageant rehearsal

 

Tuesday, August 26 – Opening Day

  • 9:00 a.m. – Gates open, exhibit entries begin

  • 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Beef Show

  • 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. – Poultry Show (4-H and FFA)

  • 5:00 p.m. – Rabbit Show (4-H and FFA)

  • 6:45 p.m. – Side-by-side Dirt Track Racing

    • Sponsored by Dead End Diesel, Greenup County Giovanni’s, and JRV Claims Adjusting, LLC

  • Roscoe and Tilly Mae Jazz Standards performance

  • 7:00 p.m. – Opening Ceremony with Bobby Hall

Wednesday, August 27

  • 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Hog Roaster and Feeder Pig Show

  • 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. – Registration: Baby Miss/Mister and Little Miss/Mister

  • 3:30 p.m. – Pageants begin

    • Sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens – Natosha Lawless

  • 5:00 – 5:45 p.m. – Miss Junior and Miss Teen Pageant Registration

  • 6:00 p.m. – Miss Junior and Miss Teen Pageants

  • 6:30 p.m. – Horse Show Registration

 

Thursday, August 28 – Veterans Night

  • 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – 4-H and FFA Lamb, Goat, and Dairy Goat Show

  • 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. – Round Robin Best of Show

  • 6:00 p.m. – Military Ceremony, Display, and Discussion

    • Sponsored by 606 Riders and Mark Porter Auto Group

    • Free entry for veterans with valid military ID

  • 7:30 p.m. – Motocross

    • Sponsored by Soggy Bottom MX and Barker’s Equipment

“4-H and FFA members have worked side by side this year to coordinate a robust schedule of livestock events, demonstrations, and learning opportunities,” shared Presley M. Grubb. “Their joint effort reflects a shared mission: building leadership, responsibility, and agricultural literacy in the next generation.”

 

Friday, August 29 – Sunshine Day

  • 10:00 a.m. – Livestock Showmanship

    • Includes hayrides, sensory bins, a photo booth, and lunch for special needs students from Greenup, Raceland, and Russell

  • 5:00 p.m. – Kids in the Races registration

    • Sponsored by Grayson Rural Electric

  • 6:00 p.m. – Kids in the Races (battery-operated cars)

  • 6:00 p.m. – Gospel and Bluegrass Performances

    • Sponsored by Music Funeral Home, Food Fair, Amvets Post 95, and Extreme Heating and Air

Saturday, August 30 – Grand Finale

  • 9:30 a.m. – Recognition of Skill-A-Thon and Judging Winners

  • 10:00 a.m. – Livestock Sale: Grand Champions, Reserve Champions, feeder calves, pigs, hogs, rabbits, poultry, lambs, goats, and beef

  • 10:00 a.m. – Kid’s Day at Bill Hieneman Pole Barn (with cash prizes)

  • 12:30 p.m. – Dog Show Registration

  • 1:00 p.m. – Dog Show begins

    • Don't forget to pick up premiums. Any unclaimed premiums will be retained by the Greenup County Fair Committee.
