The holiday season is about to get a whole lot brighter along the banks of the Ohio River as Russell Riverside Park prepares to welcome back The Great Christmas Wander in 2026. Promising festive fun, seasonal experiences, and plenty of opportunities to make lasting holiday memories, this year's event will transform the riverside park into a winter wonderland filled with Christmas cheer.

Running Thursdays through Sundays from November 27 through December 20, 2026, The Great Christmas Wander invites families, friends, and visitors of all ages to enjoy a variety of holiday attractions in a beautiful waterfront setting. Whether you're looking for a fun family outing, a festive date night, or simply a chance to embrace the magic of the season, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

One of the biggest attractions will be the return of the riverside ice rink. Guests can lace up their skates, glide across the ice, and enjoy a classic winter activity without having to travel far from home. The ice rink offers an opportunity to create new traditions, share laughs with loved ones, and experience the excitement of winter right here in the Tri-State area.

Visitors can also look forward to a festive pop-up bar, providing a cozy place to relax and enjoy the holiday atmosphere. For those looking for an extra-special experience, igloo rentals are also in the works and will be announced soon. Be sure to follow the Wander Russell Tourism page on Facebook so you don't miss out on any important updates. These unique additions will give guests even more ways to enjoy the sights, sounds, and spirit of Christmas along the Ohio River.

A special highlight of the season will be Festival Weekend, scheduled for December 5–6. This two-day celebration will feature live music and a vendor market showcasing local makers, small businesses, and unique holiday finds. It's the perfect opportunity to shop for one-of-a-kind gifts, support local entrepreneurs, and enjoy entertainment while taking in the festive surroundings.

The Great Christmas Wander is also creating opportunities for community organizations to get involved. Local nonprofit groups and organizations are invited to sign up to work the ice rink and turn a day of holiday fun into a fundraising opportunity. Participating organizations will earn 50% of the admissions profit generated during their assigned day, making this a wonderful way to support community causes while helping bring the event to life.

Organizers are also welcoming vendors, performers, and fundraising organizations interested in participating in this year's festivities. Those interested can find registration information and sign-up opportunities online.

Located at Russell Riverside Park, 413 Riverside Drive, Russell, Kentucky, The Great Christmas Wander offers a chance to celebrate the season while bringing the community together in a memorable setting.

Mark your calendars, gather your friends and family, and get ready to experience the magic of Christmas along the river. From skating and shopping to live entertainment and community fundraising, The Great Christmas Wander is shaping up to be a holiday tradition worth celebrating.
