Three Cheers for Mom!

With Morning Pointe Mother’s Day Market

Every year on the second Sunday of May, mothers everywhere are honored in a tradition passed down as a time favored tradition. Recognizing the incredible work our mothers put into raising us and keeping our lives in order, we take a moment to let them know we appreciate them and express our love for who they are. A day set aside for a special parent and figure in our lives is now recognized and celebrated each year with thoughtful words of appreciation, cards, gifts, and outings to our favorite dining establishments. Mothers work hard to keep us in line and make sure we survive the hazards of childhood with a smile on their face and open loving arms. With one day a year to celebrate their love, we can assure that gratitude can be expressed collectively for such a miraculous feat.

Beginning in 1914 as a designated holiday declared by President Woodrow Wilson, Mother’s Day was established honoring Anna Jarvis and her mother who had passed. Having first been held by Mrs. Jarvis in 1908 as an event to honor her mother, the inspiration was drawn by 1870 abolitionists who proclaimed Mother’s Day as Mother’s Peace Day to bring in peace form war. In 1908 Anna Jarvis held the event declaring Mother’s Day at the Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church of Grafton, West Virgina as she adorned the church in carnations in remembrance of her beloved mother.

Continuing in honor of Mother’s Day tradition, we move into this year’s calendar event set for Sunday, May 10th with love and whimsy in mind. This year Morning Pointe Assisted Living and Memory Care invites everyone to join them in celebrating with their Mother’s Day Market. This year’s Mother’s Day Market is scheduled for Saturday, May. 9, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., allowing ample time to mingle and purchase gifts for our very special moms. Expected for the market is live entertainment, food trucks for all the street food vendor lovers, bait and tackle, key chains, candles, stationery, shirts, jewelry, quilts, coffee, fashion items, treats and several other fantastical items. Everyone who is interested in participating as a vendor is welcome and may reserve a place by calling ahead at 606.922.1185.

Morning Pointe is located at 1000 Addington Drive in Russell, Kentucky just up from US 23 and Ashland Drive. Mother’s Day this year could look different from Morning Pointe’s Mother’s Day Market. Whether you’re looking for an item to give mom to show her you care or want to spend some time together at a fun event, this may be just the stop to make this year. With entertainment, shopping, treats and good company this event has something for everyone. Location is also a key feature for this event as it is centrally located near Flatwoods and Russell where you can easily swing through and grab a bite with mom at any of the neighboring dining locations within the area. From coffee shops to pizza and café style dining, the area near Morning Pointe has a lot to offer for a day out. This Mother’s Day come be a part of the fun at Mother’s Day Market.
