64th DISTRICT

 

ASHLAND 6-12

Ashland went 1-2 this week with a win over Fairview and losses to Boyd County and Montgomery County, 12-0.

 

Ashland knocked off Fairview, 10-0 in five innings. LJ Murphy allowed one hit and struck out eight. Chandler Kisor had two hits and drove in a run. River Lynch, Drew Kelley and Sam Lyons added RBIs.

 

Ashland fell to Boyd, 15-0 in six innings. Brady Marushi, Pierce Wamsley and Murphy had the only hits for the Tomcats.

 

Ashland visits Spring Valley Monday, visits Rowan County Tuesday, East Carter Thursday and Lewis County Friday.

 

BOYD COUNTY 13-3

Boyd County rolled off four wins this week while running their winning streak to 11 after knocking off Fleming, Ashland, Prestonsburg, 11-5 and Pikeville 10-7.

 

Grant Slater went 3 for 4 and drove in a run in the 5-1 win over Fleming. Caleb Gray went 2 for 3. Brody Biggs tripled and drove in three.

 

Slater fanned 12 while allowing only three hits to lead Boyd past Ashland, 15-0 in six innings. Connor Davis homered, added two doubles and drove in six. Kaleb Kelley tripled and went 3 for 4. Davis, Slater and Biggs had a pair of doubles each.

 

Boyd welcomes Fairview Monday, visits South Point Tuesday and plays Logan County at Apollo in the Kentucky 2A State Baseball Tournament.

 

FAIRVIEW 6-8

Fairview went 1-2 this week with a win over Chesapeake and losses to Ashland, 10-0 and Martin County, 6-5.

 

Fairview outlasted Chesapeake, 13-12. Jeffery Everetts went 4 for 6 with a pair of RBIs. Landon Stapleton and Izaac Johnson doubled.

 

Fairview visits Boyd Monday, Green, OH Tuesday, Lewis County Thursday and welcomes Martin County Saturday.

 

GREENUP COUNTY 10-9

 

Greenup went 3-1 this week with a pair of district wins over Lewis County, a 6-1 win over Portsmouth West and a 4-3 loss to Jackson Senior, OH.

 

Greenup knocked off Lewis, 11-7 in Game 1. Gavin Roy doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

 

Kasey Gammon allowed only three hits and struck out five in the Musketeers 15-0 win in five innings in Game 2. Hunter Holbrook, Kyler Robinson and Roy each had a pair of hits. Holbrook had two doubles and drove in two. Roy also had 2RBI. Gammon drove in three with a single and sacrifice fly.

 

Greenup returns to district action Monday and Tuesday with contests with Russell, followed by a visit from East Carter Friday.

 

RACELAND 12-4

 

Raceland went 3-0 this week with a pair of district wins over Russell and a 5-2 win over Pikeville in the All “A” Section.

 

Raceland earned a come from behind win over Russell in Game 1 with a 5-3 victory. Kadin Shore doubled for the only extra base hit for the Rams. Gunnar Smith and Parker Ison each drove in a run. Shore allowed only one hit over four innings. Bryer Parson earned the win in relief while giving up only one hit in 2 2/3 innings of work. Ison locked down the save.

 

Raceland knocked off Russell 11-9 in Game 2. Michael Pennington went 2 for 3 with a double and 3RBIs. Landon Bloss and Brigham Davidson both doubled. Cade Coldiron drove in two.

 

Raceland returns to district action with Lewis County on Monday and Tuesday and heads to Owensboro Friday for the All “A” State Tournament.

 

RUSSELL 11-8

 

Russell went 1-4 this week with a win over Betsy Layne, 3-2 and losses to Raceland, Lawrence County and Whitley County, 5-1.

 

Russell fell to Raceland, 5-3 in Game 1. Elijah Hankins went 2 for 3. Jared Whitt doubled and drove in a run.

 

Hankins led the Devils with three hits in their 11-9 loss in Game 2. Jayden Frasure doubled and drove in two. Hayden McGuire singled and drove in three.

 

Russell fell to Lawrence County, 9-7. Kyle Mokas went 3 for 3 with an RBI. Dawson Wada went 2 for 4 and drove in a run. Avery Lother drove in two.

 

Russell returns to district action this week with a pair of games with Greenup on Monday and Tuesday.
