Ashland Little League’s 10U All-Stars team had quite a run this past week during the State Little League Tournament held in Lebanon Kentucky. They opened the week up with a 6-1 win over the Jackson County 10U All-Stars early on Wednesday, July 10. Patton Gillum struck out 12 batters and gave up three hits and one run over five innings, while walking two.
The win advanced them to the next round which took place later that evening against the Shelby Valley Little League 10U All-Stars. Haven Rose was dominant in the circle, as the righty rang up 12 strikeouts, allowing only one hit and no runs over four innings while walking one for an Ashland 15-0 win over Shelby Valley. The following day, Ashland All-Stars faced off against a tough South Hardin All-Stars team and despite a great effort Ashland ultimately fell 2-4.
Friday was a different story as the Ashland All-Stars came back ready to dominate once again as they took the lead early in the first inning and cruised to a 10-2 win over the North Oldham 10U All-Stars securing them a spot in the championship game.
The championship game took place on Saturday, July 13, where once again the Ashland Little League All-Stars found themselves going up against South Hardin’s 10U All-Stars. South Hardin took the lead early on and held onto it until the bottom of the third when Emma Cannoy helped give Ashland a 4-2 lead.
South Hardin would go back ahead 7-4 in the top of the fourth scoring five runs on three hits. Ashland tied the game at eight in the bottom of six on a single by Isabelle Gallaher but would eventually fall 16-9 in extra innings to finish as the State Little League 10u Runner-Ups.
