Girls’ Soccer Recap 9/17/24

ASHLAND 4-3-1

 

Ashland went 0-2 this week with losses to East Carter, 5-0 and Boyd County, 1-0.

 

Ashland welcomes Wheelersburg Tuesday and Russell Thursday.

 

BOYD COUNTY 9-2

 

Boyd went 2-0 this week with a 1-0 shutout of Ashland and a 10-1 hammering of Pikeville.

 

Faith Burnside netted the deciding goal off an assist from Lauren Craft to lift Boyd past Ashland. Sophia Stevens had five saves in the shutout.

 

Aubree Moore and Burnside turned in hat tricks in the win over Pikeville. Bella Opell and Alexis Boyd added two goals each. Moore had two assists and Craft kicked in another.

 

Boyd welcomes West Carter Tuesday, South Point Thursday and Minford Saturday.

 

RUSSELL 5-4

 

Russell defeated Fleming County 4-0 and Belfry 8-0 this week. Emma Stamper scored all four goals in the win over Fleming on two assists by Ava Barker and an assist each by Sophia Bagby and Madelyn Wells.

 

 

Russell visits Martin County Tuesday and Ashland Thursday.

 

GREENUP COUNTY 3-10

 

Greenup went 1-2 this week with a 7-0 win over Paintsville and a pair of 8-0 losses to Prestonsburg and Johnson Central.

 

Hannah Frasure had two goals and an assist in the win over Paintsville. Lauren Sammons, Haley Hall, Faryn Scaggs, Rachel Hall and Brianna Vansickle also netted a goal. Caitlyn Fields had three saves.

 

Greenup visits Johnson Central Monday, welcomes Rowan County Tuesday and Ironton Saturday.
