Celebrates Building Renovations

The newly renovated Kentucky Career Center building served as the perfect backdrop for a day filled with career resources, networking, and a real show of commitment to the local community. The upgrades—both structural and cosmetic—spanned both floors, making the space more welcoming and functional for everyone who walks through the doors.

The Northeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce helped kick things off with a roundtable discussion, followed by an interview skills workshop that was open to the public.

More than thirty vendors set up for the career fair, representing a wide range of industries and job opportunities. There was no shortage of energy—conversations buzzed, resumes changed hands, and job seekers got a real chance to connect with potential employers. For many, the event offered more than just information; it brought hope and practical opportunities in what’s still a tough job market.

The day wrapped up with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially celebrate the building’s renovation and the center’s renewed dedication to serving the people of our area.

“We wanted to host an all-day event to highlight our services and invite the community to see our newly renovated facility,” said Brittney Layne, Director of Career Center Operations.

The Kentucky Career Center offers a wide variety of programs aimed at helping people reach their career goals. These include:

·       Career Development: One-on-one help with building resumes, sharpening interview skills, and getting connected to local employers.

·       Hiring Events & Job Fairs: Regular events that give job seekers face-to-face time with hiring managers and a chance to learn about current openings.

·       Vocational Rehabilitation: Specialized support for individuals with disabilities to help them find and keep meaningful employment.

·       WIOA Funding (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act): Financial help for those who want to go back to school or get job training—especially helpful for landing high-demand, higher-paying jobs.

All of these services are free and available to anyone in the community. Whether you're just starting out, looking to make a career change, or trying to get back on your feet, the Kentucky Career Center is here to help. It’s not just about jobs—it’s about helping people build stable futures.

The new building isn’t just more modern and comfortable; it’s a symbol of the center’s ongoing promise to support the people of Ashland and the surrounding communities. Events like yesterday’s celebration make it clear: the Kentucky Career Center is more than just a place to find work—it’s a place where lives are changed.

So, if you're looking to take the next step in your work life, stop by and see what the Career Center can do for you. This is more than just a building—it’s a beacon of hope and opportunity for the people of Northeast Kentucky.
