 ASHLAND 7-1


Ashland welcomes Johnson Central this week after exercising its bye week. The Tomcats and the Golden Eagles will meet for the district championship.

 

BOYD COUNTY 4-4

 

Boyd County found itself in a war after the first half of action Friday night with Rowan County.

 

Leading only 21-7 after three quarters, the Lions roared to a 28-point fourth quarter output to secure their first district win in a 49-13 victory.

 

Rhett Holbrook got things rolling from the defensive side with a Pick-6 in the first quarter and a 7-0 Lions lead. Rowan evened the affair at 7-7 to end the quarter but Boyd took a 14-7 lead to the locker room on a Marcus Brumfield 3-yard plunge.

 

Holbrook provided the only points in the third stanza on an 11-yard run but the Lions were just getting warmed up for the final 12 minutes. John Walters slipped into the endzone on a 4-yard run only 20 seconds into the fourth and the Lions followed with three consecutive scores after a Vikings answer to close the game. Brumfield rumbled 36 yards for the first, Cole Hicks hauled in a 10-yard pass from Holbrook for the second and Cayden Butler closed things out with a 16-yard dash.

 

Brumfield led the Lions with 136 rushing yards on 14 totes. Kaleb Kelley had a pair of interceptions and Jaydon Dehart added another.

 

Boyd County welcomes Lawrence County Friday night.

 

FAIRVIEW 4-4

 

Fairview bounced back after a tough district lost to Raceland last week with a 59-39 thumping of Phelps. No stats have been reported.

 

Jace Manning threw for 269 yards and three scores and also rushed for two touchdowns. Fairview had a total of 350 yards on the ground.

 

Fairview welcomes Paris to close district play Friday night.

 

GREENUP COUNTY 6-2

 

Greenup County found itself on the wrong end of a shootout at Johnson Central as the Musketeers fell, 67-42.

 

Tyson Sammons threw for 209 yards and had three touchdowns while rushing for 54 yards with a score on the ground. Drew Boggs hauled in six balls for 148 yards and a pair of scores. Jasper Davis caught four passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw for a score. Austin Walker led the Musketeers on the ground with 90 yards on 12 carries and a score.

 

Greenup heads to Rowan County Friday night.

 

RUSSELL 5-3

 

It was an efficient night in the passing game for Russell as the Devils cruised past Bath County, 42-8.

Elijah Hankins was 8 of 10 through the air for 155 yards and four touchdowns. Caden Pennington caught three touchdowns and Ben Totten hauled in the fourth. Jordan Rowe and Kaden Benge added rushing touchdowns.

 

Russell travels to East Carter Friday night for a district championship showdown with the Raiders.

 

RACELAND 5-3

 

Paris said it wanted Raceland.

 

The Greyhounds got all they wanted.

 

Raceland scored on its first three drives while holding Paris to under 150 total yards of offense as the Rams rolled to a 28-14 win at Blanton Collier Stadium.

 

Jonah Arnett opened the scoring for the Rams with a 2-yard plunge into the endzone for a 7-0 lead. Austin McKee hauled in his first interception of the season and the Rams pushed the lead to 14-0 after Shannon Marushi’s 6-yard score for his first of two touchdowns on the night. Marushi’s second score came in the second from seven yards out. Parker Ison closed the Rams scoring with a 5-yard run in the third.

 

Arnett led the Rams on the ground with 73 yards. Marushi added 46 on the ground and led Raceland with 60 receiving yards. Jacob Waller threw for 141 yards. Linden Sammons and Logan Lockwood each had a pair of sacks.

 

Raceland welcomes Nicholas County Friday night for the district championship.
