ASHLAND 9-1
Ashland closed the regular season with a commanding 58-28 win over Class 6A Simon Kenton Friday night.
Braxton Jennings gashed the Simon Kenton defense for 185 yards and four touchdowns. Maverick Ashby ran for 98 yards and a pair of scores. LaBryant Strader ran for a pair of touchdowns while throwing for 137 yards. Cam Davis closed the scoring with a rushing touchdown but added three interceptions. Jennings also had an interception. Adam Frame led the Tomcats with 10 tackles.
Ashland welcomes Harrison County Friday night at 7 p.m.
BOYD COUNTY 5-5
Boyd County fell to Pikeville, 47-35 to close out the regular season.
Rhett Holbrook threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns in the losing effort. He also ran for 81 yards and had a 93-yard kickoff return for a score. Cole Hicks hauled in 11 catches for 112 yards and a pair of scores. Kaleb Kelley had 69 yards on six receptions. Ian Branham caught two passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. Erik Germann had 12 tackles with a sack. Brody Castle finished with 11. Cayden Butler added an interception.
Boyd County visits Covington Catholic Friday night at 7 p.m.
FAIRVIEW 5-5
Fairview earned a forfeit win over Paden City Friday night.
The Eagles will travel to Sayre Friday night at 7 p.m.
GREENUP COUNTY 8-2
A shootout in Flemingsburg ended in a green and black win as the Musketeers held off Fleming County, 51-42.
Tyson Sammons piled up 179 passing yards with a pair of touchdowns along with 150 rushing yards and another score to lead the Musketeers in the win. Austin Walker rolled off 110 yards and three scores on 17 totes. Waylon Perkins added 77 yards on 10 carries and a score. Tyler Johnson and Jasper Davis each hauled in touchdowns.
Greenup heads to Mason County to start the playoffs at 7 p.m.
RUSSELL 7-3
Russell exercised its bye week before the start of the postseason.
Russell welcomes Pendleton County Friday night at 8 p.m. to start postseason play.
RACELAND 6-4
Raceland battled the third ranked team in Class 2A tooth-and-nail Friday night while playing keep away most of the night.
Raceland held the ball for nearly 34 minutes in the contest, but LCA pounced on every scoring opportunity they had to hold off a final surge by the Rams, 25-13.
LCA raced out to a 13-0 lead after one, but the Rams left Lexington thinking about what might have been. Back-to-back empty trips to the red zone haunted the Rams in their final outcome with drives stalling out at the Eagles three and inside the 1-foot line.
Jonah Arnett and Shannon Marushi led the Rams offensively as the team racked up 232 yards on the ground. Arnett had 78 yards and Marushi kicked in 77 with a touchdown. Jacob Waller had the other score on a 1-yard plunge over the top. He also threw for 127 yards with Arnett’s 51 receiving yards leading the team.
Raceland welcomes Berea Friday night at 7:30 p.m. to open the postseason.
