ASHLAND 1-1
After taking a tough loss in their season opener, Ashland took to the road in a visit to Class 6A Tates Creek with plenty of fuel to drive them toward a win. That fuel runneth over as Ashland hammered Tates Creek, 44-23 led by Cam Davis’ three-touchdown night.
Davis rushed for 92 yards on 19 carries and hauled in five catches for 42 yards, both team highs in the win. Trevonte Taylor made a house call and racked up 82 yards on 10 totes. Brody Simpkins added 67 yards on 12 carries. Justin Hughes threw for a touchdown and ran for another. Dylan Duckwyler hauled in the receiving score.

Anthony Vendetti hauled in the only completed pass by Hunter Good on the night for a 31-yard reception. Dreshawn Whitfield, Jayden Kaylor and Gabe Legg led the team with six tackles each. Whitfield recorded a tackle for loss.

GREENUP COUNTY 1-1

Greenup tried to play spoils in the Backyard Brawl but could not overcome the sizable deficit that ultimately led to a 28-15 defeat to Russell.
Ashur Wireman and Jasper Davis tallied the Musketeers scores with rushing touchdowns. Wireman ran for 64 yards on 14 carries and Davis kicked in 38 yards on 14 totes. Davis threw for 66 yards. Kasey Gammon hauled in two passes for 24 yards to lead the receiving unit.
Greenup visits Portsmouth Friday night.
RACELAND 2-0
It took Raceland longer to travel to their Friday night opponent than it did for them to secure a victory.
Raceland took the 3-hour trip to southwest Louisville against Class 6A PRP and with just under six minutes to play in the half, the Rams had a running clock on the Panthers en route to a 64-14 rout.
Raceland scored on its first eight possessions led by a four-touchdown night by quarterback Jake Waller. Waller threw for 236 yards in the win. Brigham Davidson hauled in three catches–two for scores–for 98 yards to lead the Rams. Bryson Rowsey had a pair of catches, one that totaled 32 yards for a house call. Eli Evans added a 35-yard touchdown on his only catch of the night. Landen Stiltner, Jonah Arnett, Cam Brewer and Aiden Bell all visited the endzone with rushing scores.
Raceland’s defense was stingy at best as they gave up 150 total yards of offense to PRP while holding the Panthers to minus five passing yards. Arnett tacked on a pick-6 that pushed the lead to 20 in the second quarter. Landyn Goodall added another pick that needed one final yard of being the second pick-6 for the Rams on the night.
Raceland heads to Pikeville Friday night in another episode of one of the biggest rivalries in Class A football.
RUSSELL 2-0

Russell’s Jayden Frasure made Friday night’s trip to Greenup in the Backyard Brawl a perfect one.
Frasure went 10 for 10 in the Devils passing attack to lead Russell to a 28-15 win. Frasure threw for 177 yards and a pair of touchdowns. But Frasure did not stop there as he led the team in rushing with 76 yards on 21 carries with a score. Cayden Pennington caught two passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. Jayden Pennington caught one pass for a 34-yard touchdown. Wyatt Hudson made a house call in his only carry in the contest on a 7-yard run.
Russell visits West Carter Friday night.
