ASHLAND 5-1

Mud was slung all over the Farm Friday night when Greenup welcomed Ashland Friday night to open district play.

After Greenup scored on the opening drive of the game, Ashland gashed the Musketeers for 444 yards on the ground in a 51-12 rout. Ashland snapped the ball 44 times in the lopsided win, with only three plays going in the air. Braxton Jennings and Cam Davis surpassed the century mark on the ground with Jennings leading the way with 180 on 10 totes followed by Davis’ 168 on 10 carries as well.

LaBryant Strader pulled Ashland even at 6-6 and a Troy Barnett PAT gave the Tomcats the lead for good. Davis ripped off a 65 yarder at the end of the first quarter and a 13-6 lead after one. Davis and Jennings each tacked on a touchdown in the second as the lead ballooned to 29-6 at the break.

Strader danced in from 1-yard out to open the third and Maverick Ashby’s 30-yard scamper through the muddied surface that resembled more of an off-road rally than a football field started the clock in motion. Jennings kicked in a 7-yard score to open the fourth.
