Volleyball Recap- October 8, 2024

64th DISTRICT

 

ASHLAND 21-2

Ashland went 1-1 this week with a 3-2 win over Greenup and a 3-1 loss to Boyd County. Ashland took the first set 26-24 but dropped the next three against Boyd County for their first 16th Region loss of the season.

 

Ashland plays Herbert Hoover Tuesday at Wayne, WV followed by a match with Wayne after, welcomes Fairview Thursday and plays Lafayette on Friday and Saturday.

 












BOYD COUNTY 16-13

Boyd went 2-1 this week with wins over Lewis and Ashland and a 3-2 loss to Raceland.

 

Payton Jones led Boyd with 11 kills in a straight sets win over Lewis. Sophia Clark added six. Casie Porter had four aces.

 

Jones fired home 19 kills in the loss to Raceland. Lilah Thornbury had 15.

 

Adria Queen paced the Lions in the 3-1 win over Ashland with 11 kills. Jones and Thornbury each had nine. Queen tallied four aces in the win.

 

Boyd visits Russell Monday, Fairview Tuesday and welcomes Greenup Thursday.

 




FAIRVIEW 7-14

 

Fairview went 1-1 this week with a 3-1 win over Bath County and a 3-0 loss to Russell.

 

Makenzi Slone led the Eagles with 17 kills and eight aces in the win over Bath. Madison Loving added 12 kills and six aces. Sabrina Grant had five aces.

 

Loving led the Eagles with seven kills in the loss to Russell.

 

Fairview welcome Greenup Monday, Boyd Tuesday, visits Ashland Thursday and welcomes Morgan Saturday.

 

ROSE HILL 2-17

 

Rose Hill was idle this week. The Royals welcome Ignite Flames, WV Monday, Huntington St. Joe Tuesday and Sugar Creek Christian Thursday.

 

 

63rd DISTRICT

 

GREENUP COUNTY 13-7

 

Greenup fell in all three of its contests this week, losing 3-1 to Russell and 3-2 to Ashland and Raceland.

 

Peyton Powell had 16 kills in the loss to Russell. Lucy Roy had 12.

 

Powell tallied 22 kills in the loss to Ashland. Roy had 10. Hailey Dillow finished with four aces.

 

Powell led the Musketeers with 16 kills and six aces in the loss to Raceland. Roy finished with 12. Kaylee Braden had 11.

 

Greenup visits Fairview Monday and Boyd County Thursday.

 

RUSSELL 11-11

 

Russell went 3-0 this week with straight set wins over Greenup, Lewis and Fairview.

 

Jaycee Hall led the Devils with 10 kills against Greenup. Carmin Corey and Sydney Sizemore each had nine.

 

Corey had 11 kills in the win over Lewis. Jaycee Hall and Sizemore each had eight. Hall finished with five blocks.

 

Russell welcomes Boyd Monday and plays Hurricane and Huntington Thursday at Huntington.

 

RACELAND 15-12

Raceland went 2-0 this week with 3-2 wins over Boyd and Greenup.

 

Allayson Rigsby paced the Rams with 25 kills and six assists in the win over Boyd. It was the first Rams win over the Lady Lions since 2017 when current Rams head coach Katee Neltner served her first season as the skipper for Boyd County. Annie Bradshaw added 10 kills in the win. Kody Haddix had seven.

 

Rigsby led the Rams with 18 kills and four blocks in the win over Greenup. Haddix added six.

 

Raceland welcomes Lewis County Tuesday and visits East Carter Thursday.
